771 Birth of Erendis in Numenor.
799 Birth of Soronto in Numenor.
800 Aldarion is named King's Heir by Tar-Meneldur of Numenor.
806-813 Aldarion of Numenor embarks on a 7-year sea voyage.
816-820 Aldarion sets sail from Numenor in his new ship the Palarran.
824-829 Aldarion sets out on another voyage from Numenor in defiance of his father.
829 Tar-Meneldur closes the shipyards in Romenna as part of a dispute with his son Aldarion.
829-843 Aldarion of Numenor undertakes a 14-year sea voyage, exploring the coast of Harad and beyond. The haven of Vinyalonde is damaged by the Sea and hostile Men. Aldarion is nearly shipwrecked in a storm on the way back to Numenor.
840 Birth of Nessanie in Numenor.
843 The shipyards in Romenna are reopened and Aldarion repairs and expands the harbor.
850 Erendis accompanies Aldarion on a voyage around the coast of Numenor and they attend a feast in Andunie. They argue and are briefly separated.
852 Birth of Hallacar, husband of Tar-Ancalime, in Numenor.
858 Aldarion becomes betrothed to Erendis.
863-869 Aldarion voyages to Middle-earth and finds Vinyalonde ruined again and the Men living near the coasts fearful or hostile to the Numenoreans. Aldarion first hears rumors of an Enemy at work in Middle-earth. A storm sweeps Aldarion's ships northward, delaying his return to Numenor.
870 Wedding of Aldarion and Erendis.
873 Birth of Tar-Aldarion's daughter Tar-Ancalime in Numenor.
877-882 Aldarion goes to Sea again, promising to return in two years but instead is gone for five years. He helps Gil-galad investigate the growing discord in Middle-earth. Gil-galad fears that a servant of Morgoth is rising to power and he sends a letter to Tar-Meneldur. Tar-Meneldur decides to surrender the Sceptre to his son Aldarion. Aldarion and his wife Erendis separate.
883 Tar-Aldarion becomes the sixth ruler of Numenor. In 883 or 884, he sails again to Middle-earth and may have met Galadriel at Tharbad around this time. Hallatan of Hyarastorni temporarily serves as Regent in Numenor.
892 Tar-Aldarion changes the law of succession, allowing females to become rulers of Numenor. His daughter Ancalime becomes his heir.
942 Death of Tar-Meneldur in Numenor.
985 Death of Erendis while Aldarion is on his last sea voyage.
1000 Sauron establishes his realm in Mordor around this time in response to the growing power of Numenor. He begins to build Barad-dur and exerts his influence on the people of Rhun and Harad. Marriage of Tar-Ancalime and Hallacar in Numenor.
1003 Birth of Tar-Ancalime's son Tar-Anarion in Numenor.
1075 Tar-Aldarion surrenders the Sceptre to his daughter Tar-Ancalime, the seventh ruler and first Queen of Numenor.

1174 Birth of Tar-Anarion's son Tar-Surion in Numenor.
1200 Gil-galad and Elrond refuse Sauron admittance to Lindon. Sauron comes to Eregion in a fair disguise and deceives the Elven-smiths. The Numenoreans begin to make permanent havens in Middle-earth.
1211 Death of Hallacar in Numenor.
1280 Tar-Ancalime surrenders the Sceptre to her son Tar-Anarion, the eighth ruler of Numenor.
1285 Death of Tar-Ancalime in Numenor.
1320 Birth of Tar-Surion's daughter Tar-Telperien in Numenor.
c. 1350 - 1400 According one story, Galadriel leaves Eregion and goes to dwell in Lothlorien around this time. (See also 1697.)
1394 Tar-Anarion surrenders the Sceptre to his son Tar-Surion, the ninth ruler of Numenor.
1404 Death of Tar-Anarion in Numenor.
1474 Birth of Tar-Telperien's nephew Tar-Minastir in Numenor.
c. 1500 The Elven-smiths of Eregion begin forging the Rings of Power under Sauron's instruction. Sauron returns to Mordor.
1556 Tar-Surion surrenders the Sceptre to his daughter Tar-Telperien, the tenth ruler of Numenor.
1574 Death of Tar-Surion in Numenor.
c. 1590 The Three Rings of the Elves are made by Celebrimbor without Sauron's aid.
c. 1600 Sauron forges the One Ring in Mount Doom. Celebrimbor and the Elven-smiths become aware of him and realize they were deceived. Sauron uses the Ring to strengthen the foundations of Barad-dur.
1634 Birth of Tar-Minastir's son Tar-Ciryatan in Numenor.
1693 War of the Elves and Sauron begins. The Three Rings are hidden. Galadriel receives Nenya. Gil-galad receives Narya and Vilya. Cirdan may have received Narya from Gil-galad at this time, or he may have received it before the War of the Last Allianceat the end of the Second Age.
1695 Sauron invades Eriador. Elrondleads a force to confront him. Gil-galad requests aid from Numenor. Tar-Minastir assembles a fleet but it is delayed.
1697 Sauron's forces attack Eregion. Sauron kills Celebrimborand seizes the Nine Rings and six of the Seven Rings. The Elves led by Celeborn and Elrond are overwhelmed and Eregion is destroyed. Durin III leads an attack from Khazad-dum to allow Elrond to escape. The Dwarves retreat and the Doors of Durin are shut. Elrond establishes the refuge of Rivendell. Some Noldor relocate to Lothlorien including - according to one story - Celeborn and Galadriel. Celeborn helps strengthen the defenses of Lothlorien.
1699 Sauron overruns Eriador. Sauron's forces besiege Rivendell but are unable to capture it.
1700 Cirdan and Gil-galad defend the Grey Havens against Sauron's forces. A fleet from Numenor led by Admiral Ciryatur arrives. Sauron is forced to retreat.
1701 Sauron's forces are defeated in the Battle of the Gwathlo and he returns to Mordor. Elrond is appointed vice-regent to Gil-galad and Rivendell becomes the stronghold of the Elves in Eriador. Elrond may have received Vilya at this time. Celeborn and Galadriel may have been in Rivendell at this time.

Death of Tar-Telperien in Numenor. She has no children, so the Sceptre passes to her nephew Tar-Minastir, the eleventh ruler of Numenor. (Note: The date of Tar-Minastir's accession to the throne contradicts other accounts stating that he was King of Numenor during the War of the Elves and Sauron from 1693 to 1701.)
1800 Birth of Tar-Ciryatan's son Tar-Atanamir in Numenor. Sauron extends his power eastward around this time. Also around this time, the Numenoreans begin to establish dominions on the coasts of Middle-earth.
1869 Tar-Minastir is coerced against his will to surrender the Sceptre to his son Tar-Ciryatan, the twelfth ruler of Numenor. The Numenoreans begin to oppress the Men of Middle-earth during his reign.
1873 Death of Tar-Minastir in Numenor.
1986 Birth of Tar-Atanamir's son Tar-Ancalimon in Numenor.
2029 Tar-Ciryatan surrenders the Sceptre to his son Tar-Atanamir, the thirteenth ruler of Numenor. Tar-Atanamir and others begin to speak openly against the Ban of the Valar and become resentful of the Valar and the Elves.
2035 Death of Tar-Ciryatan in Numenor.
2136 Birth of Tar-Ancalimon's son Tar-Telemmaite in Numenor.
2251 Death of Tar-Atanamir, the first King of Numenor to refuse to surrender the Sceptre to his heir before he died. His son Tar-Ancalimon becomes the fourteenth ruler of Numenor. The Numenoreans become divided between the King's Men and the Faithful. First appearance of the Nazgul - three of whom were once Numenorean lords. (Note: The date 2251 is incorrectly given as the year of Tar-Atanamir's accession to the throne in early editions of The Lord of the Rings. In addition, "The Line of Elros" in Unfinished Tales gives 2221 as the year of Tar-Atanamir's death.)
2277 Birth of Tar-Telemmaite's daughter Tar-Vanimelde in Numenor.
2280 The Numenoreans build a great fortress at the Havens of Umbar.
2286 Birth of Herucalmo (later Tar-Anducal) in Numenor.
2350 The Faithful of Numenor establish the haven of Pelargir near the Mouths of the Anduin.
2386 Death of Tar-Ancalimon in Numenor. His son Tar-Telemmaite becomes fifteenth ruler of Numenor.

2737 Death of Tar-Alcarin in Numenor. His son Tar-Calmacil becomes the eighteenth ruler of Numenor.

(Note: The date 3175 is given in "The Tale of Years" of The Lord of the Rings, but in "The Line of Elros" in Unfinished Tales the original date 3175 was changed to 3177.)
3209 Birth of Elendil's son Isildur in Numenor.
3219 Birth of Elendil's son Anarion in Numenor.
3243 Death of Gimilkhad in Numenor. His son Pharazon returns to Numenor from his territories in Middle-earth. Sauron begins expanding his domain into the Numenorean territories.
3255 Death of Tar-Palantir in Numenor. Gimilkhad's son Pharazon forces Tar-Palantir's daughter Miriel - the rightful heir - to marry him and seizes power. Ar-Pharazon becomes the twenty-fifth and last ruler of Numenor.
3261 Ar-Pharazon lands at Umbar with a great fleet.
3262 Ar-Pharazon comes to Mordor and demands Sauron's surrender. Sauron submits to being taken to Numenor in hopes of bringing about their defeat by other means. In time he becomes a trusted counsellor of Ar-Pharazon and begins to corrupt him with the aid of the One Ring. In the years following, the Haradrim are enslaved and sacrificed by the Numenoreans.
3299 Birth of Isildur's eldest son Elendur in Numenor.
3310 Ar-Pharazon begins to build the Great Armament.
3310 or 3316 Elendil's father Amandil sails to the Undying Lands seeking the intervention of the Valar but is never seen again.
3318 Birth of Anarion's son Meneldil, the last Man born in Numenor.
3319 Ar-Pharazon tries to conquer the Undying Lands. Eru causes the fleet to sink and Numenor is destroyed under the waves. The Faithful escape to Middle-earth led by Elendil, Isildur, and Anarion. Sauron's body is destroyed but his spirit escapes and is able to bring the One Ring back to Middle-earth.
3320 Foundation of the realms of Gondor and Arnor. Sauron returns to Mordor. Orthanc, Osgiliath, Minas Anor, and Minas Ithil are built around this time or soon after. The seven palantiri are distributed throughout Gondor and Arnor.
3339 Birth of Isildur's son Aratan in Gondor.
3379 Birth of Isildur's son Ciryon in Gondor.
3399 Birth of Meneldil's son Cemendur in Gondor.
3429 Smoke rises from Mount Doom. Sauron captures Minas Ithil and burns the White Tree. Anarion remains to defend Gondor while Isildur goes north to Arnor.
3430 Elendil and Gil-galad form the Last Alliance to oppose Sauron. Birth of Isildur's son Valandil in Arnor.
3431 The army of the Last Alliance gathers in Rivendell.
3434 The army of the Last Alliance crosses the Misty Mountains. They are joined by forces from Lothlorien led by Amdir and from Greenwood led by Oropher and Dwarves from Khazad-dum. The Men of the Mountains break their oath to Isildur by refusing to join the war against Sauron around this time. Sauron destroys the land of the Entwives around this time to prevent the Last Alliance from using their crops.
War of the Last Alliance begins. Battle of Dagorlad. Amdir and half his force are killed. Amroth becomes King of Lothlorien. Oropher is killed. Thranduil becomes King of the Woodland Realm. Sauron's forces are defeated. Sauron is besieged in Barad-dur.
3440 Anarion is killed during the Siege of Barad-dur.
3441 Elendil and Gil-galad defeat Sauron but are themselves killed. Isildur takes the One Ring. Elrond and Cirdan counsel Isildur to destroy the One Ring, but he refuses. Sauron's spirit flees his body and hides in the East. Minas Ithil is reclaimed for Gondor. Around this time Treebeard goes in search of Fimbrethil but does not find her. End of the Second Age.
